Q&A – Dress

SHORT STUFF

Q: I would like a shorter wedding dress as I am only 5’ and feel that a full length gown would look silly on my small frame. Can you recommend a style that will make me feel like a bride rather than a bridesmaid? Holly - Newcastle

A: WT says: An A-line gown without a waistband will give the illusion of extra height. There are lots of three-quarter dresses available at the moment, but if you are wanting a more traditional dress how about a dress that is shorter at the front and longer at the back? Also ensure your bridesmaids if have similar dresses are in a brighter bolder colour so everyone will be sure the bride is in White / Ivory.

VEIL LENGTHS

Q: Can the veil be longer than the train on my dress. My dress doesn’t have much detail on the back so a longer veil would mae me look more bridal from behind when standing at the alter? Joanna Hart – Bath

A: WT says; Long veils are very romantic and look very bridal. If you go for a longer veil it will look better if it is longer than the dress by 5 inches also dependant on any edge detail on the veil.

Q&A – Accessories

GLASS SLIPPERS

Q: I have a champagne coloured dress for my winter wedding. What colour and style of shoes should I wear? Katy - Yorkshire

A: WT says: If your wedding dress says it is champarne I  would choose your bridal shoes in an ivory or white satin and have them died to match. www.rainbowclub.co.uk is a companie known for excellent service.

SPARKLE AROUND THE NECK

Q: As my dress is very simple I would like some really striking jewellery for my wedding day. I don’t normally wear jewellery so I am not sure where to begin and what style would suit me? Fiona - Bedford

A: WT says:
I’d suggest that you look for a bold necklace from large baroque pearls – either on one large string or a few strings. This will create a strong look but complimenting your dress. Alternatively go for  something with more of a sparkle factor – Swarovski Crystals make an elegant range that delicate drop around the neck line area, creating a stunning effect.

Q&A – Beauty

TRIAL AND ERROR

Q: How long does a make up trial last and how many looks do they try? I have mine coming up soon and do I need to take any photos with me? Ellie - Manchester

A: WT says:  Most make up trials last an hour and you can try a few looks to find what suits you. If you have seen a look in a magazine take that with you it will guide the artist to what you are thinking.

UPDO HAIR

Q: I definitely know I want an updo hair style on my wedding day. But I am not sure what will suit me and how to keep with the trends of 2009? Georgie Taylor - Sussex

A: WT says;
Updo’s are very personal, this is where you need to discuss options with your hairdresser – look at different style and pictures in magazines and take them to a hairdressers and have some trials – ask to take photos and afterwards team up with someone you trust and ask their opinion.
